At the Canada Art Conservatory, we worked on the restoration of Leda and the Swan, a masterpiece that had suffered significant damage due to fluctuating humidity and temperature. Without proper environmental control, the oil painting's canvas had detached from the wood panel, and the paint had started to flake. Over time, these conditions would have only worsened, causing irreversible damage to the painting.
Without our humidity-controlled frames, the delicate balance required to maintain a painting's restored state would be lost, leaving the artwork vulnerable to further deterioration. High humidity or sudden temperature changes could lead to:
Increased Paint Loss: Cracking, flaking, and peeling would accelerate.
Canvas Warping: The fabric could shrink, causing more detachment and distortions.
Faster Degradation: The painting’s varnish would yellow further, and the artwork's colors would fade prematurely.
Without these frames, the carefully restored work of art would be at risk of losing its integrity, and the painstaking conservation efforts could be undone. Our humidity-controlled frames ensure that artwork, like Leda and the Swan, remains protected and preserved for generations.
